The top skiing areas nearby are all members of the world’s largest ski carousel, the Dolomiti Superski. In 15 minutes you can reach the three nearest skiing areas: Vals-Jochtal, Meransen-Gitschberg and Plose-Brixen, while Kronplatz is just 30 minutes away!
For those who love winter sports, Plose is your ultimate destination, the mountain offers: 9 modern lifts, 40 km of beautiful ski runs of all levels of difficulty from beginner to extreme and it is snow safe. Furthermore it offers many cross country runs, a Fun park called Snow Island, winter trails and a variety of original huts and restaurants.
Plose is home to the famous “Trametsch”, the longest prepared ski run in South Tyrol, with a length of 9 km and a vertical drop of 1.400 m; a real challenge to all skiers! Plose is the ideal resort for the whole family and to skiers of all types. Alpine skiers, cross country skiers, snowboarders, walkers and children can all take part in many available activities, which will provide everyone with an unforgettable holiday.

The winter sports area around the “Gitsch“, as the locals call the beautifully shaped mountain, lies at an ideal altitude of 1.400 to 2.500 meters above Meransen. There are nine lifts and 21 kilometres of optimally prepared pistes available annually from the beginning of December until after Easter.
Directly on the outskirts of the town, two small drag lifts with a practice run each, offer the best start to an eventful week in the snow. In addition to a narrow forest run, the Gitschberg is characterised by broad, easy to view pistes, which leave everyone enough room for a free run.

Here, you will find precisely what one understands by a family friendly ski area: no hubbub, no long paths, uncomplicated access to the winter sports area, and the ski area right in front of your doorstep. If the run up there in the Jochtal is still too steep for the children, then they can give the practise slopes down in the valley a try first. Three ski lifts are available for beginners, or those who “are a bit rusty”. Three more lifts, including a modern 8-seater cabin car transport the ski enthusiasts in the Jochtal from one piste to the other. New, state-of-the art snowmaking equipment looks after good snow conditions on 19 kilometres of pistes, a new valley run leads directly to the township.
The very sporty ones will find a mountain hiking path up to the famous “Stoanamandl Kreuz“ (Cross of the petrified man) (2.260m). Numerous, idyllically located huts offer a view and atmosphere which you will not be able to forget quickly. The Bambino-Club is available for a few hours alone with your partner without the littlies. Your precious ones will find a whole lot of surprises there: lots of other “Bambini“ to play with, numerous obstacles to be circumvented on skies, giant slalom runs, tyre slide, ... the littlies are bound to be on the skies quickly. And those who wish to have a “holiday away from one’s own car“ can use the free of charge “snow taxi“ which brings the ski fans from the neighbouring townships directly to the valley station of the cabin car lift.
